CBN Supports CVC2
Central Bank of Nigeria is to partner of the 2nd Roundtable on Nigeria Cocoa Value Chain holding on Wednesday December 4, 2012 at the Monty Suites, Calabar.
The NIRSAL – Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing Agricultural Lending – scheme will be presented to the participants. Stakeholders will come from the entire cocoa value chain.

Roundtable Seek Stronger Cocoa Association of Nigeria
Participants at the Roundtable on Nigeria Cocoa Value Chain have called for a stronger and professionalized Cocoa Association of Nigeria. Leading the call was the Team Leader of the Federal Government of Nigeria Cocoa Transformation Agenda, Dr. Peter Aikpokpodion, who stated that a professional CAN will provide the much-desired private sector umbrella association that would project Government policy to the cocoa private sector.

CAN President Endorses Cocoa GES
The National President of Cocoa Association of Nigeria, Mr. Sayina Riman, has given his nod to the Growth Enhancement Support scheme under the Cocoa Transformation Agenda, CocTA, of the Federal Government. Mr. Riman stated that the present challenges being experienced by cocoa farmers are inevitable since the scheme is new and quite different from what they had been used to in the past. CCDI COMMISERATES WITH GHANAIANS ON PASSING ON OF PRESIDENT
On behalf of the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees of the Centre for Cocoa Development Initiatives, I commiserate with the Government and people of the Republic of Ghana over the passing of the President, Prof. John Atta Mills.
The news of the sudden death of Prof. Mills, without any record of ill health, came to us as a very great shock, given the fact that the National Democratic Party recently officially approved his candidature as its flag bearer in the upcoming elections in one of Africa’s most vibrant democracies. DONGO NOW DIRECTOR IN CHARGE OF RESEARCH
Dr. (Mrs) Lelia Dongo has been appointed Director in charge of research of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, CRIN, based in Ibadan, Southwest Nigeria.
New Executive Director, Prof. M. Akoroda made the announcement last week at a meeting with top management of the Institute. Until her new appointment, Dr. Dongo was Director in charge of Crop Protection.
